Ex-Gundy BioThe Maroons may have gone down in the first game of the NRL State-of-Origin series but a former Goondiwindi Boar has helped lead the Queensland University side to a big win over NSW.
Goondiwindi’s Brogan Gibson scored two tries in the side’s 48-4 victory.
Gibson’s sensational array of attacking skills earned him man-of the-match honors, as he either created tries or scored them himself.
His deceptive speed and deft passing game left the opposition in his wake. The talented 20 year-old five-eighth plays for the South Logan Magpies, the feeder club for the Canberra Raiders.
His performance saw him selected for the Australian team to compete in the University World Cup in July.
Proving he’s got brains as well as brawn, Brogan is in the first year of his Bachelor of Multi-Media degree at the University of Queensland. No one can question his work ethic either. He studies full-time, trains four days-a-week and holds down a part-time job. Which explains why he’s in need of a helping hand financially. “I’m looking for sponsorship. It cost me $1500 to play in the Queensland side, and I’ll need $2400 to play in the Australian team, so any contribution would be very gratefully received,” he said.
Brogan was a member of the 2005 Boars which won the Toowoomba Rugby League premiership.
