Riders charge in for Polocrosse

Goondiwindi’s annual polocrossse carnival was held on the weekend with a record 48 teams competing.

This is the biggest carnival Goondiwindi has hosted since the State Titles many years ago.

The grounds were abuzz with horses, riders and spectators. The weather was a little chilly on Saturday but warmed up in time for the finals on Sunday.

The A grade final was won by Warwick on Sunday afternoon with a great display of skills and riding ability. The carnival was a huge success and a great way to spend the weekend.

“We had great support from spectators and from our sponsor Tait Auto Group,” Club Secretary/Tresurer Michelle Smith said.

Results: A Grade Winner – Warwick 1, A Grade runner up –Tansey 1, best horse and rider for A grade – Cameron Sheppard, B Grade winners – Macksville, B Grade runners-up –Cunningham 1, best horse and rider for B grade – Ryan Donovan, C Grade winners –Clifton 1, C grade runners up – Tansey 2, Best horse and rider for C grade – Boran Davison, D grade winners – Chinchilla 2, D grade runners up -Warialda, Best horse and rider for D grade – Peter O Sullivan, E grade winners -Clifton 2, E grade runners – Gold Coast/Warwick, best horse and rider for E grade – Jess Lawrence, A grade junior winner –Inverell, Runners-up – TWBA, B grade junior winners –Chinchilla/Clifton, Runners up –Clifton, best horse of the carnival –GEIGER owned by Charlie Brooks, Best lady player - Kylie Gould from Wondoan, Best junior girls –Jess O Brien, best junior boy –Jacob Lawrence, best local player – Gaye Toohey, best local junior – Lachlan Finlay.

Goondiwindi polocrosse riders are off to compete in the Moree carnival in a fortnights time.
