Marilyn, Joyce down locals and visitors

The Bridge Club welcomed five visitors who were touring the district and joined the Club for a Mitchell-movement bridge competition on Tuesday.

Marilyn Sinclair and Joyce Gilbert sitting North-South combined very well to win the Gross event with 225.67 percent from Flora Henderson and Barbie Hobson who scored 198.00 percent.

John and Barbara Whitmee were third.

The Nett event Marilyn and Joyce won with 157.68 percent, Flora and Barbie were second with 150.68 percent followed by Betty Giltrow and Jenny Suttor.

At the East West seating our visitors certainly showed their prowess at the Bridge table with Jeff and Barb Bool winning the Gross event with a score of 192.33 percent from John and Joan Lehane who were in second place with 187.83 percent.

Regular visitor Hank Hyde partnered Dalva Brown and their score of 174.33 percent gave them a comfortable third.

Jeff and Barb were first in the Nett event followed by John and Joan, local couple Graham and Rosalie Mills were third.

Fifteen pairs played another Mitchell movement last Thursday.

The North-South seating was won by Jack and Diana Sheinberg with an excellent score of 229.80 percent.

Flora Henderson and Mary Collins scoring 220.10 percent were second followed by John Whitmee and Hank Hyde.

The Nett event was won by Betty Giltrow and Noreen Hensler with 177.44 percent from Diana and Jack who scored 162.12 percent.

John and Hank were third.

The East-West seating was closely contested with Graham Mills and Joyce Gilbert scoring well with 186.83 percent and losing by a very small percentage were Margaret Raymond and Trish Bishop who scored 186.03 percent.

Graham and Libby Bailey scored 182.33 percent to finish third. In the Nett event Graham and Libby were first with 182.33 percent followed by Graham and Joyce scoring 152.63 percent. Judy Neal and Jean Dight were third.
