The Talwood Races is on again proving you can’t keep a champion or a champion event down.
“What a 12 months it has been for the racing fraternity!” Talwood Race Club President Michael Pegler said last week.
“After overcoming the mayhem of Equine Influenza we have all had a year to refresh ourselves and once again Talwood is on its way to hosting another eventful and exciting day of spring racing and good old-fashioned bush hospitality.
“The Club has used the time making improvements and upgrading facilities and grounds to assure the best possible day for friends and guests,” he said.
There is a five-race program with the highlight being the B&W Rural Talwood Cup.
The ever popular Calcutta Race is on again.
But perhaps the biggest race of the day will be the Pram Race Extravaganza in which teams can win prizes to the value of $500.
“We are inviting all guests to form a team and join in the spirit of the day,” Michael said.
Other attractions will include footraces, raffles and lucky book prizes and entertainment for the children.
As always there is a choice of a BYO picnic to share or the all day barbeque provided by the Talwood P&C.
As the sun goes down the entertainment goes on. Test your skills on the the Bucking Bull from 5pm and enjoy the spectacular fireworks display.
A full bar will be provided until the early hours and there’s a traditional camp oven dinner.
“It’s going to be a fantastic day all round and it’s only due to the wonderful support of our generous sponsors,” Michael said. Gates open at 11.30a.m.
