Clear boys back in the swing

It didn’t take long for the Cleary boys to get into the swing of things at the Goondiwindi Golf Club.

After a few years’ lay-off, Paul and Mark Cleary have rejoined the club. Mark had a win a couple of weeks ago and on Saturday it was his father Paul’s turn. Paul returned 39 points to win the 18 hole stableford in fine fashion. No doubt we will be seeing their names in the news more often from now on.

Runner-up was Greg Warden on 37 points.

Sunday’s 18 hole stableford was won by Robert Webb with a whopping 42 points.

Wednesday’s Veterans was won by John and Iris Guyer with 27 points. Runners-up were Ray Macnamara and David Jackson with 26.

Some wise golf quotes:

There are two things you can do with your head down…play golf and pray.

The fun you get from golf is in direct ratio to the effort you don’t put into it.

If you call on God to improve the result of a shot while it is still in motion, you are using “an outside agency” and subject to appropriate penalties under the rules of golf.
