It was great to see so many highly contested matches played during finals night, and we congratulate the winners and all players for making this round of fixtures a success.
After knocking off the top team the Wattles in the semi-final, the Roos were unable to keep up the pace and went down to the second position team, the Matildas four rubbers to one.
Andrew Yates keeping the Roos honest by defeating Brad Taylor, giving Andrew the highest overall individual score for the tournament.
In other matches Greg Cosh shows he is in fine form, with a win over Crewie Saunders, while Darren Muller showed determination in a hard match against Ted Lewandowski, Darren winning three games to two, 71 to 62 points.
David Mailler’s enhanced court coverage enabled him to have a win over Richard Littlewood three games 70 points to two games 60 points.
Dewayne Wells squeezed out a win over Robyn Elsely three games to two, Dewayne winning the first two games, Robyn the next two, the final game decided 16 to 15. Overall 67 points each.
The Wattles who were holding position one were unable to fight off the Emus, both teams equal on three rubbers each. A count back on games put the Emus ahead by two games 15 to 13.
Russell Jesse and Joel Frankham had a battle, two games each the match being decided in the final game. Russell winning three games to two.
Nydean Felstead and Joe Hildred had an arresting match which was decided in game five, Nydean winning three games to two, overall point scores 59 each.
Although Andrew McKenzie had a four games to one win over Stuart Scudamore, the match was close with only four points the difference 67 to 63.
Gus McLaughlan had some close games against Michelle Klein, although Michelle won four games to one. While Ryan Golder proved too strong against Jamie Knight, who to his credit was playing up a line.
Jumbucks prevailed over the Wallabies five rubbers to two. Drew Fox and Andrew Jakins both have a never say die attitude and when they couldn’t run down a ball threw themselves at it. Drew finally winning a prolonged battle three games to two, 71 to 60 points.
Rachael Norman and Paul McNulty staged their usual hard contest; Rachael winning three games to two, although Paul won more points 66 to 64.
Jim Burdett put the foot to the floor with a convincing win against Angus Wilson, four games to one, both players somewhat surprised at the result.
