Forty years ago the Rolling Stones extolled the virtues of “walking the dog” in song.
These days the health benefits of doing just that are being promoted all over Australia, including Goondiwindi.
Every year, rain or shine, thousands of animals head to parks all over Australia and participate in the RSPCA’s annual Million Paws Walk.
The Goondiwindi branch of the RSPCA have decided to be a part of this great event and are staging their own walk in the Botanical Gardens on Sunday, May 18.
So grab your dog and the kids and head down for a fun packed morning with competitions, prizes, displays, hydro bathing, food and refreshments, and other ‘impromptu’ entertainment that traditionally goes hand in hand with the Million Paws Walk.
Last year more than 41,000 animals passed through RSPCA Queensland shelters and financially, without the Million Paws Walk, the charity simply couldn’t have coped.
Schools and Businesses are also encouraged to enter teams and walkers can pick up sponsorship forms before the event.
And remember, just sixty minutes of moderate activity every day, can dramatically help your general health.
Registration starts from 8a.m on Sunday May 18. For further information contact Michelle Monement on (07) 4671 1799
